Martin Lefebvre

Martin began his amateur dance career in Montreal at the age of nine. After proudly representing Canada at multiple World Championships, he moved to Calgary in 1999 to begin his professional career with his partner and now wife, Diana. Together, they owned and operated a successful dance studio and organized the Rocky Mountain Dancesport Grand Prix for eight years.

Today, Martin serves on the board of the Canada Dancesport Federation. You can often find him at dance competitions across the country, either judging or acting as Chairman of Judges. He continues to work passionately to promote ballroom dancing in Alberta and is the Dance Director for Ballroom Classroom, an organization dedicated to bringing ballroom dance programs to elementary school children.

Katerina Michtchenko

Katerina has over 40 years of teaching and competing experience and is a Canadian Closed Champion in the Professional American Smooth, runner-up in the Latin-American Division, and competing in Standard Divisions. She is a 3-time Canadian Representative at the World Professional Latin and Showcase Championships and finalist of the World Professional Latin Showcase Championship. She is the Director and coach of the DanceSport group โ€œFiesta DanceSport Club,โ€ which has produced Canadian Junior Latin and Youth 10-dance Champions. She teaches and coaches competitors and social dancers (kids, teenagers and seniors) in both Latin and Standard divisions.

Katerina also holds Canadian DanceSport Federation Adjudicators Licenses (A+,B+) with experience officiating DanceSport competitions in and out of Canada.

Diana Lefebvre

Diana (Matiaszow) Lefebvre  is one of Canadaโ€™s hottest dancesport trainers. Her classical ballet training lead her to the world of ballroom dancing, and at the age of 19, just by walking up the stairs on a whim, she was hired by the Arthur Murray chain. Diana was trained extensively in both business and American style and worked in several studios across Canada until landing in Calgary. Her coaches Jean-Marc Gรฉnรฉreux and Ginette Cournoyer encouraged her to pursue an international competitive career. In 1997 she became both a Canadian finalist in ten-dance and a successful studio owner. Dianaโ€™s studio became one of Canadaโ€™s largest training centres with of staff of 26 instructors.

After her competitive career, Diana opened her own fitness dance company called Burlesquercise. This award-winning company is geared for women of all shapes, sizes, ages and levels and allows ladies to enjoy dancing and performing without a partner. This unique fitness company is Ballroom, Latin, Jazz and Broadway-based with a Burlesque twist. Diana also provides training for gymnasts, skaters, models, fitness models and dancers from various genres. She is known as “the confidence specialist”.

Roxana Samoila

An accomplished dancer and a successful instructor with over 25 years of experience, Roxana is a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Sports. She is also a CDF-certified instructor and an adjudicator for both International & American Styles.

Roxanaโ€™s dancing expertise expands well over the limits of dancesport, into the area of rhythmic gymnastics, jazz & ballet. Together with her husband Peter Samoila, they own “Unique Dance”, a dance school that has been awarded a diploma of excellence by the Consulate General of Romania in recognition of an outstanding record of accomplishments beautifully demonstrated over the years.

Her professional career, past and present is a true reflection of her unwavering commitment to excellence.

Angel Chu

Angel began dancing at 18 while studying at the University of British Columbia and was a member of the UBC Dance Club. After moving to Taiwan in 2002, she partnered with Darren Chen and launched a successful national and international competitive career.


From 2004 to 2007, she was Taiwanโ€™s 10-Dance Champion and represented the country at the World 10-Dance Championships. Her international results include Semi-Finalist finishes at the Korean, Manila, and Taipei Opens, a Top 7 placement at the Singapore Open, and a professional runner-up finish at the Shenzhen Open. After turning professional in 2009, she trained in England and competed across Asia and Europe.


After retiring from competition, Angel appeared on “Dancing with the Stars Taiwan” and focused on coaching future national champions. She holds IDTA Licentiate qualifications in both Standard and Latin and has judged international competitions throughout North America and the Asia-Pacific. Now based in Canada with her husband and partner Darren, she teaches at Crystal Ballroom.
