When is the registration deadline?

Registration deadline is February 1st, 2024. Any entries received after this date are subject to a late fee of $5.00 per entry.

What sets ‘Festiva!’ apart from typical ballroom competitions?

Attending regular competitions is essential for competitive dancers. ‘Festiva!’ is an environment where dancers can enhance their competitive experience by providing learning opportunities to foster improvement and growth. 

‘Festiva!’ is a dance festival where the dancers are given scores, with the option to enter special rounds where they will also receive feedback from a judge. Scores and feedback from the adjudicators will provide a unique experience the dancers can use to help improve for future competitions.

How are the dancers scored?

In all categories, except for the Special ‘Festiva! Feedback Rounds’, dancers will receive two scores: one on their technical performance and one on their artistry.

What are ‘Festiva!’ Feedback Rounds?

Dancers entered in dances in this category will not only receive a mark from a member of the judging panel for their overall performance, but they will also receive a judge’s commentary on their dancing. The Festiva committee will provide the dancer with an audio commentary file within one week of the festival’s completion. Feedback specific to the dancer’s performance helps guide them by giving them tangible elements to improve on for future training and performances.

Is there a festival piece in the evening part of the event?

Although there will be no officially judged events in the evening, top-scoring performers from specific categories in the daytime festival will be invited to the Performer Showcase in the evening. The Performer Showcase gives these dancers another opportunity to perform and shine for a large audience, celebrating the beauty of ballroom dancing.
